BHP Billiton Masters Coursework Scholarship
BHP Billiton donates a sum of money annually to provide up to four scholarships each valued at $50,000 per annum to encourage students who have demonstrated academic excellence and an interest in economic, business or management issues relevant to the resources sector to undertake the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree course or other Master’s degree by coursework in the UWA Business School at The University of Western Australia (the University).
ValueThe value of the scholarship is $50,000 per annum for the duration of the course. Note: Where the duration of the course is less than two years, the value of the scholarship in the second year is pro-rated according to the length of the course for which the scholarship is awarded. EligibilityTo be eligible for consideration for a scholarship an applicant must – (a) have been accepted for enrolment in the MBA course, or other Masters by coursework; and To be eligible to take up the scholarship, the recipient must be enrolled in not less than four (4) units per semester or trimester. At least one scholarship each year is awarded to an eligible female applicant. If, in any year, there is no eligible female applicant, all available scholarships may be awarded to male applicants. Application ProcedureWritten applications addressing the selection criteria must be accompanied by: (a) a statement outlining the applicant’s experience and/or interest in economic, business or management issues relevant to the resources sector. Note: This can encompass, for example, research addressing the social, environmental and economic impact of mining and resources industries on the regional, national and international economies. It can explore both the direct operations of mining and resource management, and their indirect effects on the wider community. (b) a curriculum vitae that includes at least the following information - For applicants who have undertaken study at a tertiary institution other than the University, a copy of the applicant’s academic record from that institution must be provided. Applicants must undertake the scholarship eligibility test prescribed for the purpose by the UWA Business School at a time and place to be advised by the UWA Business School. Applications must be submitted to the Faculty Administrative Officer of the UWA Business School.
