Scholarship Introduction:
The One World Scholarship is available to students enrolled in a program of at least one year in length, leading to a credential offered by a BC public post-secondary institution. Students must have been accepted into a study or work abroad program (in a country other than the US) that forms an integral part of their credential studies. For the purposes of this scholarship, an eligible study/work abroad program is an activity that is either a formal part of the student’s credential program at his/her home institution or that carries academic credit recognized by the student’s home institution.
Scholarship Eligibility:
For the purpose of this scholarship, an eligible study/work abroad program is an activity that is either a formal part of the student’s credential program at his/her home institution OR that carries academic credit recognized by the student’s home institution. Eligible study/work abroad programs have to be at least three weeks in length, and no longer than one year.
The scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis to students who:
- Are Canadian citizens or permanent residents (landed immigrants);
- Are British Columbia residents, defined as having had their primary residency at an address in the province for at least the past 12 months;
- Are enrolled in a program of at least a one-year in length (preferably longer), leading to a credential;
- Have an academic standing suitable to a study/work abroad program, as determined by their post-secondary institution;
- Have been accepted into an eligible study or work abroad program by their institution;
- Are planning to carry out their study/work abroad activity outside Canada and the United States of America;
- Are not carrying out their study/work abroad activity in a country from which they have immigrated within the past ten years;
- Can demonstrate the links between their study/work abroad experience and their education goals;
- Have preferably demonstrated some involvement in their institution and/or community;
- Have not previously received a One World Scholarship or Pacific Horizons Scholarship at the same credential level.
How to apply:
The One World Scholarship program is open to eligible students enrolled in a program of at least one year in length, leading to a credential offered by a British Columbia public post-secondary institution. Students must have been accepted into a study or work abroad program that forms an integral part of their credential studies.
Completed applications and all documentation must be received by the One World Scholarship representative at your institution by the deadlines established by the representative.
