</strong>The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) is a dynamically developing multidisciplinary scientific institution. IMBB is a part of Faculty of Biology of the Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU), one of the biggest universities in Poland. IMBB is located in Collegium Biologicum in the new AMU campus Morasko.</p>
<p><strong>Scholarship Description</strong>:<br />
MPD International PhD program is seeking a doctoral student to undertake a project exploring the factors controlling snoRNA and scaRNA biogenesis in plants. The work plan includes two major steps: (1) In silico analysis of all available plant snoRNA and scaRNA gene promoters and (2) experimental validation of promoter elements in transgenic plants.</p>

- hold a Master degree in Molecular Biology or Bioinformatics;<br />
- have some experience in laboratory work with plants and genome annotation;</p>

<p><strong>Scholarship Descripton:</strong> The International PhD program “Towards Advanced Functional Materials and Novel Devices – Joint UW and WUT International PhD Programme” realized by the Faculties of Chemistry of Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) and University of Warsaw (UW), Poland, designed in cooperation with well-recognized international research Partner institutions.<br />
3 students will be admitted to the first or second year of the International PhD studies.<br />
PhD Projects listed below are still available:<br />
UW-4: “Solution Thermodynamic of Ionic Liquids in Water, Aliphatic Alcohols and Hydrocarbons”<br />
UW-5: “Organic semiconductors for organic electronics: synthesis, characterization and application in test devices”<br />
PW-7: “Advanced polymeric materials – From calculation to application”<br />
Duration of the program is 4 years, including 6-24 months spent abroad in the foreign Partner institutions.<br />
A fellowship of 3000 PLN/month (tax-free) + 500 PLN/month (insurance) is offered, which compares well with the average salary in Poland. An additional allowance of 1500 PLN /month will be provided for the stay at the foreign partner institution.<br />
Tuition fees for all coursework and health insurance are covered by the fellowship. The University will assist in finding accommodation.Students from all countries are invited to apply.</p>
<p><strong>Admission Procedure:</strong><br />
The application and admission process can be divided into two steps:<br />
Documents submitted by the Candidates &#8211; final university results (a degree granting transcript), letter of application, achievements and letters of reference &#8211; will be considered by Admission Committee. Deadline for sending the application forms is January 3, 2011. Diploma certificate should be provided by February 10, 2011. All applications will be evaluated by the Admission Committee using the following criteria: (evaluation scale with maximum 100 points):<br />
final grades of the master’s degree studies (the final average grade for the studies, the grade for the diploma thesis, and the grade for the thesis defense): 0-18 points<br />
a transcript of university records: 0-12 points<br />
a recommendation letter from the diploma thesis tutor: 0-12 points<br />
a list of scientific publications: 0-15 points<br />
scientific training in a home country: 0-16 points<br />
scientific training abroad: 0-16 points<br />
participation in scientific conferences: 0-6 points<br />
any other professional experience and qualifications/skills that may have an additional value for the execution of the PhD project: 0-5 points<br />
<span id="more-7928"></span>Candidates selected by the Admission Committee will be invited for an interview conducted in English. Interviews will consist of a candidate presentation and examination in front of the Admission Committee and Project Supervisor(s) chosen by the applicant. For international candidates an on-line interview might be arranged. The Admission Committee will judge: the candidate’s general knowledge of material science, ability to present his/her work, ability to pose, answer and discuss scientific questions, as well as general communication skills. Information about the results will be sent by e-mail before January 31, 2011. The total score achieved is not available to the applicant. Candidates have 14 days from the announcement of the decision to appeal the admission decision. The PhD program starts February 15, 2011.<br />

Semiconductor nanostructures for renewable energy, information processing and communication technologies is devoted to theoretical modeling of semiconductor nanostructures and devices with possible applications in new and emerging technologies.</p>
<p><strong>Detail:</strong><br />
Scholarships are opened at University of Technology Wroclaw, Poland. 1st recruitment procedure, summer 2010.</p>
<p><span id="more-4517"></span>- 4 positions for students with BSc or completed three years of studies in natural science or engineering (scholarship 1000 PLN per month);<br />
- 3 PhD positions for candidates holding MSc (or equivalent) in physics or technical physics (scholarship 3000 PLN per month + 500 PLN to cover social insurance);<br />
- 1 post-doc position for a young researcher holding a PhD in theoretical physics, granted not earlier than in 2006, with possible additional 2 year allowance for parental leave (scholarship 5000 PLN per month).<br />
The students will be enrolled in the 2nd degree (Master) course in physics at the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology, Wroclaw University of Technology (taught in Polish or in English).<br />
The PhD students will be enrolled in the 3rd degree (doctoral) studies at the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology, Wroclaw University of Technology.<br />
The post-doc will be employed at the Institute of Physics (no teaching duties).<br />
The positions can in principle be held over the duration of the project (till May 31st, 2014), limited by the changes in the academic status (student, PhD student) of the team member.<br />
<strong><br />
Selection Procedure:</strong><br />
The recruitment procedure will be carried out by a selection committee composed of four professors of the Institute of Physics (including the project leader). A representative of the Foundation for Polish Science (the project funding agency) can take part in the procedure as an observer. The selection proceeds in two stages: evaluation of applications and interviews (in English). The committee may invite only a restricted number of candidates, selected according to the evaluation of their applications, to the interview stage. In the case of a candidate form abroad, the committee may agree to perform the interview in the form of a video-conference. In this case, the candidate is responsible for securing the appropriate technical means on his/her side.<br />

j) students and PhD candidates: participation in research-related student activities (student conferences, student projects etc.),<br />
k) postdoctoral candidates: summary of main scientific results obtained so far,<br />
l) postdoctoral candidates: information about supervised Master projects (if applicable, depending on the country of origin);<br />
3. List of publications and conference presentations;<br />
4. Students and PhD candidates: preprints (or, preferably, references to open access repositories) of submitted papers and proofs of conference contributions if applicable (preprints of unpublished papers will be treated as confidential and will be deleted, destroyed or returned to the applicant after the conclusion of the recruitment process);<br />
5. The diploma confirming the highest professional title or academic degree obtained so far or a document confirming completion of 3 years of higher education;<br />
6. A document stating the academic achievements, that is:<br />
*students: average grade obtained during the studies so far,<br />
*PhD candidates: the final grade obtained at graduation, including the average grade from taught subjects,<br />
*final examination grade and the grade obtained for the MSc thesis,<br />
*post-doctoral candidates: average grade from subjects taught during PhD studies (if applicable, depending on the country of origin),<br />
*the grade obtained in the PhD examination (if specified), distinction “cum laude” if achieved;<br />
7. PhD and post-doctoral candidates:<br />
*letter of recommendation from the supervisor of the last professional or academic degree;<br />
*post-doctoral candidates can additionally include a letter from the head of the current research group;<br />
*students can optionally present a letter of recommendation from a supervisor of their BSc project or other<br />
*students&#8217; research project.<br />
Important: The letter of recommendation should be sent (by email, fax or mail) directly to the project leader or attached in a sealed envelope (if the application is submitted by mail). The name(s) of the recommending person(s) should be stated in the application. Please arrange for the letter(s) to arrive before the deadline. We advice the applicant to inform the recommending person(s) about the importance and expected content of the recommendation letter, as follows from the selection criteria.<br />

Photocopies or scanned copies of documents 5 and 6 will be accepted as part of the application but originals must be presented before the contract is signed. The documents must be sent electronically . Submissions set by mail must arrive before the deadline to be considered. The response will be directed to the candidates by email.</p>

<p>Foreigners who are studying or want to study Polish history can apply for a scholarship funded by the Polish History Museum.</p>
<p><strong>Eligibility:</strong> Only holders of Master’s or higher degrees can apply.<span id="more-208"></span></p>
<p>The Museum’s Scholarship Fund aims to support research on Polish history and projects designed to raise awareness of Polish history abroad. Scholarships will be granted to winners of a contest for the best educational, promotional and research projects.&nbsp; Scholarships, worth 1,000 euros a month before tax, are granted for one to three months but may be extended. Researchers can make repeated applications for a scholarship.</p>
