About DAAD:
The DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service, is an organization of all German universities. It organizes academic exchange between Germany and other countries worldwide. Because of its very difficult situation it has been passing through, Palestine has been one focus in the work of DAAD. Every year many students and professors receive scholarships from DAAD in order to complete their studies in Germany or take up research projects together with their German colleagues.
The exchange works also in the opposite direction. DAAD has been sponsoring a German Visiting Professor in the Social Sciences at Birzeit University for more than ten years by now. Moreover, every year, German professors visit Palestinian Universities, both for lectures and for short-term teaching assignments of up to six months. Finally, a good number of German M.A. and Ph.D. students, mainly from the Social Sciences, come to Palestine on scholarships to do their field-research here on a variety of topics.

Eligible:
Palestinian Graduates (Sciences and Engineering) – who have scored an excellent accumulative average, i.e. well above 80% (usually above 85). They should envisage an academic career at a Palestinian University and be supported in this by their respective universities. Only candidates whose last degree was earned no more than six years ago can apply. All applicants who are already teaching at their respective university are strongly encouraged to apply. After having obtained their Master’s Degree in Germany, alumni can apply for a Ph.D. This program is designed as a faculty-building program.
Students apply to DAAD and at the same time to an International Degree Course in their field of interest at a university of their choice in Germany. All students applying on this track need very good English (TOEFL paper-based 550/ computer-based 213/ internet-based 79/ IELTS Test Band 6 or above).

Requirements:
1. Filled out and signed application form “Application for Research Grants and Study Scholarships” (please tick “Other programs” and write “Study Scholarships for Master’s Programs) – to be downloaded from the DAAD website www.daad.de/westbank_gaza . If you have problems with the download, please, contact daad@netvision.net.ilfor assistance.
2. Curriculum Vitae (C.V. – please, sign it)
3. Certified copies in English (not photocopies!) of the Tawjihe-Certificate, of the Bachelor’s Degree and of the complete transcript
4. Recommendation by the Head of your Department plus additional recommendations (as detailed and specific as possible) by other academic teachers. Only original letters in a sealed envelope are accepted. New recommendation forms!
5. Three recent photos
6. TOEFL exam 79 (550) or above must be included
7. Choice of one or more International Degree Programs in Germany (state clearly why you chose these programs and why you prefer them over programs offered in Jordan).
8. Study Plan (letter of motivation for choosing the particular program – in your own words – please sign it)
9. Photocopy of your passport

All applications must be submitted in triplicate (that means 3 separate packages including all of the required papers in proper order: 1 original set, 2 photocopied sets)All letters of recommendation must be submitted in a sealed envelope – do ask for extra copies from the person writing the recommendation. Do not staple the photocopied documents together and do not staple your photograph to the forms (use glue to attach your photograph in the place indicated on the form, write your name clearly in English on the back of all additional loose photographs). Please, organize your papers according to our above checklist.
Applications that are not organized and not signed (i.e. application form as well as your C.V and your Study Plan, i.e. letter of motivation) cannot be accepted.
Candidates invited for an interview should come to the interview with two additional packages complete with all papers – simple photocopies- plus two additional sealed letters of recommendation. (So please, do keep copies of your application with you and ask for enough letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes.)

Value of the scholarship:
DAAD pays a monthly installment of currently 750 Euros/month, all fees for the preparatory language course, tuition and fees (not with private universities), study & research subsidy, travel expenses to and from Germany, accident & health insurance

Power Point Presentation – DAAD Master’s to Germany

Application deadline: August 26, 2010

Note:
All applications should be submitted to one of the following addresses, but must in all cases reach the DAAD IC in East Jerusalem by the respective deadline. Please, write your name, the area/city that you live in and your preferred interview location clearly in English on the envelope/outside of your application package.
DAAD cannot consider late or incomplete applications!
Only the best applicants, provided they have fulfilled all requirements and have submitted a complete application, can be invited to an interview (to be held in English) by a bi-national Palestinian-German Committee. (It is your responsibility to check when your personal interview is scheduled and to confirm it with the DAAD IC in Jerusalem).
Results of these interviews in the form of a preliminary shortlist will be made available as soon as possible after completion of all interviews in Palestine.
The successful candidates must get an acceptance from one of the International Degree Programs in Germany. Scholarships can only be given to those students who got this acceptance.
If your name appears on the shortlist of applications submitted to the DAAD Head Office in Bonn, please, immediately start your application process to one of the International Degree Programs. Do note that DAAD will not pay excessive tuition fees!
You have to submit a completely new application to your chosen course. Each course will let you know which papers and documents are required. Again, you will have to submit certified copies of your degrees and your transcripts. Therefore, make sure you ask for at least three or more copies from your university when you start your original DAAD application. Do submit only those papers and exam-results required by the respectiveprogram. Don’t send results of exams in which you did not score high and which are not requested.
Do inform us at the DAAD IC in Jerusalem, when you send out an application. We shall then get in touch directly with these programs in Germany. Also, you should make sure to mention quite clearly in your application that you applied for a DAAD scholarship. As soon as you have been awarded the scholarship, do immediately inform your chosen degree program in Germany.
As a rule application papers cannot be returned. However, if your application was not successful, please contact (best by e-mail) the DAAD office in Jerusalem to find out, if and how your papers can be returned to you. Application-papers sent to Germany cannot be returned under any circumstances.
The successful candidates will normally travel to Germany in June for a 4 months preliminary German language course.

The Directors of SABB have therefore set up The Saudi British Bank Scholarship Scheme to provide a number of educational scholarships to support the longer-term career growth of Saudi nationals. Under the Scholarship Scheme, SABB will fund selected candidates for Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses in the UK. These scholarships will enable young, enterprising Saudis to extend their educational achievements and so contribute to the future development of the country.

Key features of The Saudi British Bank Scholarship Scheme
• The scholarship will be offered for a one-year full-time MBA course, of relevance to the financial sector, at an appropriate British University. The course will normally begin in September or October each year and will last until August or September of the following year
• The Scholarship will cover the tuition fee, cost of accommodation, return travel to Saudi Arabia, and a daily allowance. Please note that funding from the SABB is for the candidate only and will not extend to any accompanying persons.
