DOROTHY HODGIN POSTGRADUATE AWARDS(DHPA) – CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY – PHD IN UK
Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards
The DHPA Scheme is funded by the UK Research Councils and industrial partners and funds a small number of overseas students to study for a PhD in the UK. On average Cambridge University has 7 Dorothy Hodgkin Awards per annum. As specified by Research Councils UK, candidates are restricted to certain countries. Subject area is also determined by RCUK, although in 2009-10 we expect to have at least one award in the areas of Physical Sciences, Clinical Medicine and Biological Sciences. The awards are of three years duration and are restricted to students who will be commencing PhD research on 1 October 2009. Please note that all MPhil students are excluded from this scheme
Application Process:
In order to be eligible for a DHPA, students must have followed the application procedure for the CISS Scheme. There is no separate application form or process for the DHPA Scheme. Candidates should note that given the volume of applications, the Board of Graduate Studies will not provide feedback on the outcome of this competition at any stage.
Based on the CISS ranked lists and Departmental letters of support for top ranked candidates in the CISS competition, senior academic members of the Board of Graduate Studies will select students to be offered a DHPA in March 2009. Successful candidates will be informed by email. No communication will be made with any other candidate and if you have not received notification of an award offer by 1 May 2009, you should assume that your application has not been successful.
