Results selection round September 2008: The first round of Artistic grants was held in September 2008. We received more than 1000 applications. A true challenge for the ECF team and the jury. After the selection process, 13 projects received a grant. Read the short summaries of these projects here.
Who is eligible?
- Artists and organisations working in any artistic discipline, and residing/based in Europe (i.e. European Union and the neighboring regions).
- Individual artists who have a demonstrable track record in their chosen discipline (at least 5 years’ experience).
NOTES FOR INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS
- You must submit a curriculum vitae (CV) and two letters of reference.
- You are more likely to be considered if you are collaborating with a venue/producer/partner.
- You need to get at least 10% of your total budget through other sources (e.g. in-kind contributions, own financial support or grants/subsidies from other foundations).
- For the first phase of the application procedure, confirmation of support from co-funders/partners should be submitted; if selected in the second round, we will request official letters of intent from co funders/ partners.
What is eligible?
- Projects of artistic originality and European relevance, which illuminate cultural diversity and processes of change within European society.
- The proposal must be for a new project in the phase of preparation.
- The project must be completed 18 months after the contract has been signed (envisaged November 2009).
Which projects interest us most?
- Projects that reflect on European developments in an innovative way. We need artists to comment on, research, question, imagine and fantasise about what is happening in European societies: in the cities, among and within communities, across or beyond borders.
- Projects that reveal an innovative creation process and a visible end product. We are looking for artistic visions, ideas, answers, works on how Europe should/could relate to its diversities.
- Projects that have a legacy for the future. This means that one-off events are unlikely to be supported unless they have clear impact and are sustainable within the context.
Which projects are not eligible?
- Projects that do not address the current focus.
- Projects whose proposals are submitted after the deadline.
- Projects that do not focus on an artistic outcome (e.g. a residency or conference).
- Projects that have already taken place. The ECF cannot support any element of the work taking place before the jury has made its final decision.
- Projects exclusively aimed at profit-making. However, those which have some commercial output may be eligible.
- Projects dealing only with production and/or touring costs.
