Iran Scholarships: IAB Grant Scholarships 2010 USA

Introduction: In order to help talented students with interest in Iranian culture to achieve their aspirations, IAB will solicit scholarship funds and will grant scholarships to students who have high academic performance, and strong and documented interest in Iranian culture and society.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must have legal immigration status.
  • Applicant must be either of Iranian descent or have demonstrated active interest in Iranian culture and heritage.
  • Applicant must be a registered student in an accredited graduate or undergraduate higher education institution in any of the states in New England during the period of the scholarship.
  • The scholarship shall only be granted at the time that the student is enrolled in an academic institution in New England.
  • Past recipients of this scholarship are not eligible; however, previous applicants may re-apply.
  • Applicant must not be a relative of any members of the IAB Scholarship Committee, Council Members, and Executive Officers.

Selection Criteria:
The scholarship committee will consider applicants according, but not limited, to the following general areas:

  • Applicant’s scholastic achievement
  • Applicant’s need
  • Applicant’s leadership qualities
  • Applicant’s level of interest in Iranian culture and heritage

Selection Process:
The IAB Scholarship Committee will collect all the applications and the supporting documents. The members of the group will meet regularly to complete the missing documents and discard ineligible applications. The IAB Scholarship Committee will meet on a specified date for review and evaluation of all the files and selection of the recipient in accordance with current eligibility rules and selection criteria. After the top candidate(s) is selected, the IAB Scholarship Committee will prepare a report that includes the Committee’s recommendations and submit it to the IAB Council for approval and implementation.

Award:
The group has voted to award one $3,000 scholarship for the academic year 2010/2011.

Distribution of Funds: All awards will be released directly to the scholarship recipient, typically by the month of September preceding the Fall term. The IAB treasurer is responsible for the transfer.

Application Deadline: March 1, 2010.
