Advanced HIV Fellowship Programme 2010 in Clinical & Leadership Training in AIDS Prevention and Control (APAC) Project, Voluntary Health Services (VHS), in India
About APAC:
The AIDS Prevention and Control (APAC) project is administered by the Voluntary Health Services (VHS), Chennai with financial assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), under a tripartite agreement with the Government of India. APAC project has been implementing STI/HIV/AIDS prevention and control programs in Tamil Nadu since 1995 and in Puducherry from 2002. APAC has completed two phases (1995 – 2007) and is currently in its third phase, implementing prevention and care programs in seven Intensive Intervention Districts in Tamil Nadu.

Applications are invited for the one-year Advanced HIV clinical and leadership training program jointly run by the Government of Tamil Nadu, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Government Hospital of Thoracic Medicine (GHTM), and the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH). The Fellowship Programme is implemented by I-TECH, an international NGO, affiliated with University of Washington, Seattle and University of San Francisco, California. This programme is conducted at GHTM, one of India’s largest HIV care centers and national HIV training centers, offers more than 10,000 patient encounters, with a range of care issues including OI management, ART therapy, palliative care and psychosocial support.
Eligibility:
1. Completion of MBBS recognized by MCI, India. Postgraduate degree/diploma in any Medical discipline is preferable
2. Upto 40 years (Relaxable upto 5 years for deserving candidates)
3. Indian Nationals only
4. Commitment to a career in HIV medical care and/or programme management
5. Fluency in English and a South Indian language preferred
The Fellowship programme consists of the following components:
1. Daily hands-on clinical training and experience
2. Daily didactic and case-based sessions
3. Mentoring by local and international experts and faculty
4. Management and leadership skills development
5. Clinical or community health project opportunities
Monthly Remuneration: Rs. 25,000 for private candidates;
Tamilnadu Government candidates: Salary from sponsoring institution, as per rules.
