Hsiao Scholarship 2011 for University of Minnesota Students in China
About University:
The University of Minnesota is governed by a Board of Regents whose 12 members are elected by the Minnesota Legislature—one from each of the state’s eight congressional districts and four at large. The president of the University is the chief executive officer of the University and ex officio president of the Board. Located in Morrill Hall on the Twin Cities campus, the president is supported by an executive team that includes the three senior vice presidents, the vice presidents, the general counsel, the chancellors of the University’s four coordinate campuses, the director of athletics, and the president of the University of Minnesota Foundation.
Detail:
By establishing this endowed fund, donors Jennie and Fred Hsiao, wish to provide an opportunity for University of Minnesota students to incorporate an educational experience in China as part of their academic studies (including approved internships or professional training). The scholarship shall be used for the payment, partially or totally, of travel, tuition, or personal expenses.
Eligibility:
1. Applicant must be a full-time student enrolled in a degree-seeking program at the University of Minnesota
2. Applicant must be in good academic standing, with at least a 3.0 GPA, with potential in their field
3. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Selection:
Application will be reviewed by a committee; scholarship recipients will be notified of scholarship awards by mail approximately three weeks after the application deadline.
