PhD Scholarship in Freshwater ecology and biogeochemistry in soft-water lakes at the Institute of Biology, University of Southern Denmark.
Eligibility:
A PhD scholarship is open within the area: Freshwater ecology and biogeochemistry in soft-water lakes with focus on nutrients, plant-periphyton interactions and/or processes in groundwater influenced sediments. The project will be associated with ongoing research in the Centre for Lake Restoration (CLEAR). One of the aspects studied by CLEAR is the eutrophication threats to soft-water lakes where isoetids dominate the submerged vegetation. The studies will be carried out in soft-water lakes where groundwater seepage may be important for the nutrient and inorganic carbon input. The investigations will be conducted using an experimental approach both in the laboratory and in the field. The successful applicant may have an impact on the direction of the project according to her/his background.
Application, salary:
Please note that only applicants with a master degree obtained from outside the University of Southern Denmark will be considered for the mobility fellowship. Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the Fellowship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period. The successful applicants will be employed in accordance with the agreement of 1 October 2008 on salaried PhD fellows between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The successful candidate will be enrolled at this university in accordance with faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order).
