Pears-Britten Scholarship in Singing

Scholarship Introduction:
Mr Benjamin Britten and Mr Peter Pears gave a concert in the Auckland Town Hall on 7 April 1970. For this concert, offered by reason of long-standing personal friendship with Mr.Philip Todd, Senior Lecturer in Singing in the School of Music, these world famous artists gave their services without fee. The Scholarship Fund was created out of the proceeds of the concert.

To financially assist a student who has been selected or pursuing study for a full-time performance course in the School of Music at The University of Auckland.

Eligibility for Scholarship:
Applications shall be in the hands of the Administration Office, School of Music on or before 30 September in the year preceding that in which the award is sought. Each candidate shall be examined in Singing, and the programme shall consist of a recitative and aria from opera or oratorio; a German Lied and a 20th Century English Song. Note: Time allowed for each examination will not normally exceed twenty minutes.

How to apply:
Study is to take place at the University of Auckland.
