PhD Scholarship in Statistics
Applications are invited for a full-time PhD scholarship in the Centre for Statistical and Survey Methodology, funded by a grant under the ARC’s Linkage International Social Sciences Collaboration scheme.
The project will determine how to account for households, spatial proximity and social networks in the design, estimation and analysis of social statistics. The student involved in the project will develop skills in the development and implementation of innovative statistical methodology, extensive use of simulations and analysis of real data.
Details: The scholarship includes a tax-free stipend that is currently worth a minimum of $26,669 per year for three years. There may be opportunities for overseas travel to collaborate with researchers at the University of Manchester in the UK.
Eligibility: This scholarship is open to Australian and international applicants, with an Honours 1 or 2(1) degree in Statistics, or an equivalent qualification, by the end of 2008, strong research potential and are able to commence by the end of February 2009.
