The University of Edinburgh Sichuan Province Master’s Scholarships

Following the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, the University will offer two Master’s scholarships for students from the Sichuan Province undertaking an eligible postgraduate Master’s degree programme offered by the University of Edinburgh.

The scholarship will cover tuition fees and will be tenable for one academic session.

Eligibility:

The scholarship will be awarded to a Chinese citizen who is normally resident in the Sichuan Province, has resided there for a minimum of three years and who is accepted for admission on a full-time basis in one of the following postgraduate Master’s programmes of study:

Selection criteria:
1. Countries: Only applicants from non-EER countries are eligible for this scholarship. Students from
EER-countries as well as non-EER students with residence in the EU are not eligible.
2. Degree: Candidates applying for this scholarship should have a (completed) bachelor degree with
excellent academic records and a thorough command of written and spoken English.
3. Paper: Applicants are requested to present a written assignment on impacts of tourism development in a destination.
4. References: Applicants must, additionally, provide two references (for example from a university, work environment, or other professional setting).

Grant award period: 2009-2010. The programme starts the second week of September, 2009.

Deadline for application: 1 December, 2009. Applicants will receive an answer before July 15 2010.

How can you apply?
The application procedure is as follows:
1. Applicants must register as a candidate for the master programme of Tourism Destination
Management at NHTV. The application form** can be downloaded from: www.nhtv.nl/tdm
2. Mention on this application form that you will apply for a NUFFIC scholarship.
3. Applicants should include a paper of no more than 1.000 words on the topic: ”impacts of tourism
on a destination”, and relate this to a destination of their choice.
4. Based on your application and paper, an telephone intake interview will take place. After this, the
NHTV will determine whether you are eligible for a scholarship.
5. If the answer is positive, you will receive an admission letter from the NHTV (by Email)
6. With this admission letter, you can apply directly for a NUFFIC scholarship with the NUFFIC
application form, to be downloaded from www.nuffic.nl/international-students/scholarships. The
scholarship is called “fellowships for Master”. (NUFFIC scholarships applications are processed
by the Dutch embassy in your country.)

The British Embassy Tashkent welcomes applications from citizens of Uzbekistan for one-year scholarships to read for a Masters degree in Politics at the University of Manchester. The scholarships are funded by the Open Society Institute, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the University of Manchester. They cover tuition, travel and living costs (for one person only) up to 12 months.

GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2009-2010

The Office of International Education (OIE) and the Center for U.S.-Mexico Studies (CUSMS) at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) enhances the academic relationship between UTD, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean using an interdisciplinary approach to focus on international education, research, and public service programs. OIE and CUSMS invite citizens from country members of the OAS to participate applying for graduate scholarships through the Agreement of Collaboration between UTD and the Organization of American States (OAS). The UTD-OAS scholarship includes one round trip airfare, living expenses, tuition and fees, and health insurance.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The application for the UTD-OAS scholarship may be accomplished through two different ways: (1) self placed scholarships and (2) OAS-placed scholarships.

1. SELF PLACED SCHOLARSHIPS

Candidates must apply directly to The University of Texas at Dallas. Simultaneously candidates have to apply to the National Liaison Office (NLO) in his/her home country. Fellowships awards depend on the submission of the admission letter to complete the file for review and deliberation. Each NLO define its own calendar for the submission of application paper work, including the admission letter from UTD. Please verify dates directly in the NLO of your country.

a. Candidates must satisfy admission, departmental, and international requirements at UTD. Application form and letter of recommendation format may be obtained from the following Web sites:

b. UTD requires the satisfaction of English proficiency (TOEFL) and standardized test such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). c. The current scholarship announcement is for the Academic Year 2009-2010, beginning classes in the month of August. The deadline for the reception of applications at UTD is on March 9, 2009.

d. The application must include $100.00 administrative fee. The check in U.S. dollars or money order must be titled as The University of Texas at Dallas. Also the fee may be cancelled using a credit card (see application form).

UTD-OAS Scholarship Program Components

UTD-OAS scholars will are sponsored by the Inter American Agency for Cooperation and Development (IACD) and UTD. IACD will sponsor the first half of the academic programs (first year for master programs and two first years for Ph.D. programs). UTD will sponsor the second half of the academic programs (second year for master programs and third and fourth years for Ph.D. programs).

The UTD-OAS scholarship program includes:

a. Round trip air fare for travel between the country of origin and UTD.
b. An allowance for living expenses, including books and materials

• be eligible for admission to a master level program at the Graduate School of Business in Wollongong or Sydney
• be making his or her first application to study in the Graduate School of Business after 12 August 2008
• be the holder of a bachelor degree with a minimum GPA equivalence to an Australian bachelor degree of 2.75 (on a 4-point scale)
• be commencing his or her first course at the Graduate School of Business in Autumn session 2009 (at Wollongong campus) or intake A or B (at the Sydney campus)
• be an international student
• not receive any advanced standing/credit exemption into the master degree studies at the Graduate School of Business

Application procedure:
The applicant must
• apply for the scholarship before 14th December 2008
• complete and submit the scholarship form together with the course application form, including evidence of graduation (in the form of a recognised certificate of graduation) and a full transcript of studies undertaken as part of the bachelor course.

Apply:
The application can be submitted directly or through an accredited agent or representative of the University of Wollongong.
All applications will be assessed by the scholarship committee, and applicants will be advised of the outcome by email on 21 December 2008.
In order to be eligible to take up the scholarship, the successful applicants
• must have maintained a 60% average in each semester of study at the Graduate School of Business
• must not have taken a leave of absence and must have maintained a full-time study load during each semester/term of study
• must hold international student status at the time of the award

Awarding of the scholarship:
• the scholarship will be confirmed following the release of results in the penultimate (second last) semester/term of study, and prior to the commencement of his or her last semester/term of study
• awardees will receive the scholarship in the form of a discounted tuition fee in the final session of study.

Other conditions:
1. The scholarship must be taken up in the session of study for which it is awarded, and cannot be transferred to another student, or deferred; nor redeemed for a cash payment or rebate or in-kind payment.
2. The determination of equivalence of the staus and GPA equivalence of the applicant’s bachelor degree is solely that of the University of Wollongong, and is not subject to appeal.

The NFP Master’s degree programme is one of the sub-programmes of the NFP.

Mid-career professionals who are already in employment and who are nationals of and working in one of the selected countries can apply a fellowship.

Duration of the programmes: Between 9 and 24 months.

Fellowship:
An NFP fellowship, which is granted for the duration of the programme, is intended to provide a contribution towards the costs of living, to cover the costs of tuition fees, and the cost of visas, travel, insurance, thesis research, etc. as specified in the NFP booklet ‘Rules and regulations for fellowship holders 2008’.

ZLOG Eastern and Central Europe Scholarship – Zaragoza, Spain

Scholarships for students who have been admitted to the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics

The Zaragoza Logistics Center Scholarship currently provides around 20 scholarships each year for students of the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program.

Through ZLOG Eastern and Central Europe Scholarship, the Foundation hopes to attract outstanding future leaders from Eastern and Central European countries. Candidates will be expected to show extraordinary potential for leadership and professional success, bringing new vision and commitment to the area of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Stipend:
The scholarship provides full tuition and administrative fees for the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program, which amounts to €21,500 to a student of the academic year 2009-2010.
The scholarship will not include other costs such as living or travel expenses to Zaragoza or to Boston for the international
exchange.

Selection criteria and process
Competition for the ZLOG scholarships is intense and highly competitive.
The candidates will be chosen on the basis of:
