			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>University of Auckland Fulbright Scholarship for Doctoral or Master&#8217;s Student</h3>
<p>UA Fulbright Scholarships are awarded by the University of Auckland Council, to encourage and facilitate study for approved postgraduate degrees at the University of Auckland by candidates already selected to hold Fulbright Awards. As a Fulbright Award fully supports a candidate for the first year, these scholarships are intended to enable Fulbright Award winners to complete degrees at the University of Auckland.</p>
<p><strong>What does the UA Fulbright Scholarship cover?</strong><br />
In the case of a Master&#8217;s student, a Scholarship shall be tenable (where appropriate) for the second year of study until the completion of the degree (or for twelve months, whichever is the lesser).</p>
<p>In the case of a Doctoral candidate, a Scholarship shall be tenable until submission of the thesis or for two years (whichever is the lesser).<br />
The emolument attached to a UA Fulbright Scholarship is currently $15,000.00 per annum plus research/tuition fees.</p>
<p><strong>Who is eligible?</strong><br />
UA Fulbright Scholarships are tenable to Citizens of the United States of America who are intending to take up Fulbright Awards to study in New Zealand and who intend to enrol full-time at the University of Auckland for an approved Master&#8217;s or Doctoral degree.<span id="more-2836"></span></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Three UA Fulbright Scholarships are available each year.</strong></span></p>

The basis of selection will be academic achievement, a demonstrated interest and aptitude in pursuing a career in the provision of professional engineering services, and the potential to contribute to the industry.<span id="more-2820"></span></p>
<p><strong>How to apply:</strong><br />
GHD will pay the Scholarship directly to the University to be applied by the University towards the Scholar’s compulsory fees. Any remaining amount will be applied towards the Scholar’s textbooks by direct reimbursement on presentation of receipts or by provision of a cheque or purchase order payable to a book store on presentation of a written quote.</p>

<p>GHD is an international professional services company providing leadership in management, engineering, the environment, planning and architecture. As a multidisciplinary professional services company GHD is committed to balanced and sustainable development.<span id="more-2718"></span></p>
<p>To support a student undertaking study towards a BE Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in their final year of undergraduate study.<br />
The Awards shall be made by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of a selection committee comprising a representative of GHD, the Dean of the School of Engineering (or nominee), and an academic from the School of Engineering chosen by the Dean in consultation with the GHD representative. GHD will pay the Scholarship directly to the University to be applied by the University towards the Scholar&#8217;s compulsory fees. Any remaining amount will be applied towards the Scholar&#8217;s textbooks by direct reimbursement on presentation of receipts or by provision of a cheque or purchase order payable to a book store on presentation of a written quote.</p>

<p>To encourage undergraduate students in Engineering and to offer practical work experience via vacation employment opportunities.<br />
<strong>Selection process:</strong></p>
<p>The Scholarships shall be awarded to candidates who are New Zealand citizens or hold permanent residence in New Zealand, and who are enrolled full-time and have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, in Part III of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in any one of Computer Systems Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering at The University of Auckland.<span id="more-2435"></span></p>

<p><strong>Kick Start City of Sails Scholarships</strong><br />
There will be ten Kick Start City of Sails Scholarships offered.<br />
<strong>Requirements:</strong></p>
<p>Restricted to applicants who live beyond the Auckland metropolitan area.</p>
<p>The definition for the Auckland metropolitan area is that your normal permanent home address is in New Zealand and placed either north of Orewa or south of Drury.</p>
<p>The awards will be based on an applicant&#8217;s academic results in their final year of high school.</p>
<p>The Scholarship are open to all New Zealand Citizens and New Zealand Permanent Residents.</p>
<p>The recipients of these Scholarships will be notified prior to 27 February 2010.</p>
<p><strong>Kick Start Affirmative Action Scholarships</strong><br />
There will be four Kick Start Affirmative Action Scholarships offered.<br />
Available to students of Maori or Pacific Island background.</p>
<p>Applicants may be required to attend an interview.</p>
<p>The awards will be based on an applicant&#8217;s academic merit, personality and drive to make a difference.</p>

<p>The Scholarships are open to all New Zealand Citizens and New Zealand Permanent Residents.</p>
