TERACOM MEDIA SCHOLARSHIP 2009 SWEDEN
Teracom is a part of the development of the future media community, but we would like to generate even more thoughts and ideas. Therefore, during the spring of 2008, Teracom instituted a new media scholarship directed to Sweden’s college and university students majoring in media.
We want to encourage all of the college and university students in the country to think outside the box and be entrepreneurial, so that media issues continue to be the center of debate and our awareness. We want to be surprised, elated, inspired, and perhaps even shocked by your ideas and thoughts about change and development.Topics:
The scholarship will be related to current events within the media industry and the topic for the first year will be moving images and sound.
• Couch TV and TV via Internet, co-existence – convergence?
• My radio, just as I want it!
• How to finance tomorrow’s media services in a “free society”
Submissions:
Submissions should be 6-10 pages long and written in essay form in Swedish or English. Authors must be able to participate in Future Day in March 2009.
The jury will evaluate the essays using the following criteria:
• Innovative thinking and “trailblazing” ideas
• Business potential
• Probability of implementation
• Presentation – well-organized presentation of the idea, good cohesion between logic and facts
Application deadline: December 30, 2008.
Awards:
Three essays will receive awards, and the award ceremony will be held on Future Day 2009. The winning essay will be awarded SEK 20,000 and the author will be given the opportunity to present his/her idea during Future Day. The second and third place essays will receive SEK 10,000 each.
Apply:
1. Choose one of the three topics for this year’s media scholarship.
2. Write a 3,000-5,000-word essay. The essay should be innovative, have business potential and be able to be implemented with reasonable funding.
3. Submit the essay using the application form.
